Windows 2000 and Exchange 2000 Challenge: Internet Security Systems, Inc. (ISS) needed a more secure and stable networking and messaging infrastructure. With 25 offices worldwide, ISS maintained a network of Windows NT 4.0 servers that grew in complexity and in parallel with the growth of the company. ISS’s objective was to reduce the complexity of their current infrastructure and diminish the burdensome administration without losing flexibility for growth or change. They also wanted to consolidate two separate directory services: one for networking and one for messaging. ISS realized that a new messaging system would need to integrate with their current network’s directory service. Intellinet Solution: Implement Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Exchange 2000 Server for their networking and messaging infrastructure. Collapse the existing Windows NT domains into a single Windows 2000 domain. Build containers in new domain allowing ISS to easily group resources and delegate control over portions of the directory. After Windows 2000 was deployed, their mail organization was migrated from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000. With the introduction of Exchange 2000, ISS only needed to administer a single directory service, Active Directory. Accomplished: Significant value gained through Intellinet’s i.e. (intelligent enterprise) approach and the joint effort of both team’s talents. ISS increased the security and stability of their network without compromising its ability to quickly adapt to the growing company. ISS was able to efficiently implement the new Windows and Exchange design with a minimal impact to users. Immediate benefits yielded reduced administration and the security matched their own demanding standards as a leader in the industry. Active Directory service now provides opportunities for directory authentication with other Line of Business and Mission Critical applications like HRMS, CRM, and Business Financials, paving the way for a fully integrated enterprise.

Manhattan Associates

Manhattan Associates provides supply chain execution solutions that enable their customers to collaborate with trading partners and e-marketplaces across the entire supply chain.

Business Intelligence Portal Challenge: Manhattan Associates is the software developer of an advanced warehouse management system named PkMS. They needed to create a new product to provide ad hoc querying capabilities for both real-time and historical data, without adversely affecting the performance of their flagship PkMS product. It was important for the solution to integrate with existing Business Intelligence (BI) applications that many of their customers already had in place. Also, they had to meet very tight deadlines to launch the product on time. Intellinet Solution: Realizing the need for a solution that offered querying capabilities and integration with existing BI applications, Manhattan Associates selected Intellinet’s Intelligent Enterprise (i.e.) integration solution. The flexibility of digital dashboards and their related backend technologies ensured that the solution would integrate with the BI applications used by Manhattan’s clients. Depending on the client’s particular needs, the i.e. solution could either supply data via cubes or relational tables. Information was stored in a data mart that was optimized to perform analysis and reporting. End users could then analyze the data in a single tool or integrate several tools together for a personalized digital dashboard accessible via a web browser. VB script and XML was used to build custom web parts, which could also be used in the dashboards. The final solution was comprised of multiple software products, each working together to provide the end result. Products used in the solution included the Digital Dashboard Resource Kit, SQL Server 2000, Analysis Services, Data Transformation Services, and ProClarity’s web controls. Accomplished: Through i.e., SmartInfo was added as a new product to the Manhattan Software Suite. Intellinet engineered a solution that improved customer service by providing an extremely reliable method of analyzing key warehouse metrics, leading to improved decision making processes. The Intellinet development team was able to deliver the graphing and analysis functions of the SmartInfo solution on deadline.
