MICROSOFT AWARDS INTELLINET WORLDWIDE SOLUTION OF THE YEAR

Intellinet Wins Worldwide, Certified Partner Award For Business Intelligence (BI) Solution Using Microsoft Technologies

Atlanta (October 21, 2003) - Intellinet, the Southeast's most highly certified Microsoft consulting firm, announces its selection by Microsoft Corporation as the Worldwide Business Intelligence (BI) Solution of the Year. Intellinet won for developing an exemplary Business Intelligence (BI) portal for Cox Communications, Inc., the fourth largest cable broadband communications company in the United States. The BI solution correlates real-time data with operational data from several heterogeneous systems for a comprehensive view of nation-wide and local telecommunications networks that carry video, voice, and data communications for Cox’s commercial and residential subscribers. This enterprise view of network information, through the portal, empowers staff for immediate response to potential network issues before they impact operations.

"Microsoft recognizes Intellinet as a certified partner that goes above and beyond traditional expectations to deliver excellence to their customers," said Allison Watson, Vice President, Worldwide Partner Sales and Marketing Group at Microsoft. “This BI solution, developed by Intellinet for Cox Communications, shows innovation in optimizing Microsoft technologies to solve a business need.”

“Intellinet is deeply honored to receive this ‘Worldwide Solution of the Year’ Award, just as we are pleased to deliver great business value to our client, Cox Communications, Inc.” said Frank Bell, CEO of Intellinet. “Intellinet is pleased to help Cox, already recognized for great customer service, reach new levels of service, efficiency, and quality on one of the highest capacity and highest reliability broadband delivery networks in the world.”

The solution, named NetMon, pulls data from heterogeneous source systems, aggregates and correlates the data, and presents the data through a single enterprise portal that serves 300 today and ultimately 2000 users. Cox’s 28 cable systems routinely report network data for delivery of such services as local and long-distance telephony, digital video programming, analog cable television, high-speed internet access, and commercial voice and data services. Through the NetMon portal, Cox’s Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel in Atlanta can address potential network issues promptly. Benefits of aggregating, correlating, and presenting the NetMon information through its enterprise portal include:
- Historical trending that favors proactive, rather than reactive, issue resolution
- Correlation that creates a single alert from events that affect more than one customer or service
- Efficient operations with better maintenance, troubleshooting, resource utilization, reporting
- Division of processing into four logical components that scale easily
- Web-browser-based access to information at the portal and any report
- Reporting architecture based on industry-standard XML and web services
- Affordable implementation that was on-time and on-budget
The NetMon portal uses the latest technology from Microsoft and its partners, including Microsoft's new Reporting Services and TARGIT's Analysis 2K3 suite. The TARGIT suite provides easy-to-use analytical views of the data, complete with drill-down, filtering, and rich charting of the data. Reporting Services provides detailed reports that can be scheduled and distributed in a highly efficient manner. In addition to these great products, the NetMon solution employs the latest breakthroughs in hardware technology, running part of the backend database on Intel's newest 64-bit processing power.

“We are extremely pleased that Microsoft recognizes NetMon as a world-class business intelligence solution. Intellinet’s solution provides us with tremendous insight into our business and allows us to exceed customer expectations every day,” said John Hall, the Director of Operational System Support for Cox Communications.

Microsoft considered more than 1000 entries from around the world, in 16 categories. The winners were named at the Worldwide Partner Conference 2003, Microsoft's premier annual partner event.
